United in Hope: Rare Disease Community at the Purple Parade

The Purple Parade 2024 was a historic moment for Singapore’s rare disease community. Ten organizations joined forces under the banner of Rare Disease United (Singapore) to show their unity and commitment to supporting rare disease patients and their families. Marching in two strong contingents, they demonstrated the power of collaboration and solidarity.

The participating organizations were:

Autoimmune Diseases Singapore
DEBRA Singapore
HAE Singapore
Haemophilia Society of Singapore
Muscular Dystrophy Association (Singapore)
MNDa Singapore
Multiple Sclerosis Society Singapore
Pulmonary Hypertension (Singapore)
Rare Skin Conditions Society (Singapore)
Rare Disorders Society (Singapore)

Rare Disorders Society (Singapore) brought an additional highlight to the event. Families from RDSS joined Falice, founder of One Wish, to perform “Our Story” by Mr. Darius Lim. This inspiring song, written for SG Enable, is an anthem for the special needs community and brought hope and joy to everyone present.

RDSS also set up a booth that showcased the creativity of their beneficiaries. Visitors could purchase hand-drawn postcards and Carry Hope merchandise as part of RDSS’s awareness and fundraising efforts. Every purchase contributed to raising awareness and supporting individuals with rare diseases.

The Purple Parade 2024 stood as a powerful reminder of the strength found in unity. Together, these organizations continue to celebrate life, amplify the voices of the rare disease community, and spread hope for a brighter, more inclusive future.
