On July 21, the Rare Disorders Society (Singapore) participated in the 2024 Sixth Rare Disease Symposium on Collaboration and Communications  in Beijing. Hosted by the Beijing Illness Challenge Foundation and supported by the China Rare Diseases Alliance, this event gathered global leaders to tackle the challenges faced by rare disease communities.

Our Chief Rare Advocate, Mr. Phua Wee Seng, represented Singapore and presented a compelling session on “Collaborative Efforts to Address the Unique Needs of Rare Disease Patients in Singapore.” His presentation highlighted the innovative approaches and strategies that RDSS has implemented to support our rare disease community, focusing on collaboration, inclusivity, and comprehensive support systems.

The conference featured diverse sessions covering critical topics such as patient participation in drug development, healthcare equity, innovative funding models, and the role of education and employment for people with rare diseases. The exchange of knowledge and experiences was invaluable, providing fresh perspectives on how we can collectively improve the lives of those affected by rare conditions.

A Call to Action:

The time to act is now. Governments, healthcare providers, researchers, and advocates must unite to make a real impact. By working together, we can create a world where no rare disease patient is left behind.

Join us in making a difference. Together, we can build a more inclusive future.
