If you ever needed proof that joy can be louder than challenges, you would have found it at the Rare Disorders Society (Singapore)’s Year-End Party on 22 November’s afternoon. It wasn’t just a celebration. It felt like a living, breathing reminder of what hope looks like when an entire community shows up for one another.
From the moment the first families streamed in, the room held a kind of energy that couldn’t be manufactured. It came from parents who’ve walked long roads, siblings who’ve grown up a little faster, volunteers who showed up with full hearts, and beneficiaries whose courage shines through in ways big and small.
An Afternoon of Performances That Stole the Show This year, three beneficiary performances became the emotional core of the celebration, each one completely unique, but together, they painted a powerful portrait of resilience.
Titus, gentle and focused, took the stage with his flute. His performance was more than music; it was a moment of stillness and sincerity that made the entire room lean in, listen, and breathe.
Then came a quartet of siblings, Ethan, Elijah, Evron, and Ezekiel who sang Home. Many may have recognised them from their recent performance at The Purple Parade just last month, but watching them sing among families who know their journey, their love, and their bond made the song hit differently. It felt like a reminder that “home” is often found in the people who stand with you through everything.
Just when we thought the emotional arc was complete, Wenling stepped forward for an impromptu performance of the K-pop song Bubblegum. With no rehearsal, no warm-up but just pure courage and joy, she lit up the room. And everyone loved every second of it.
Handmade With Heart: Anderson Primary Class 6.4 The gifts in the goodie bags this year came with something special that are handmade items lovingly created by Class 6.4 of Anderson Primary School. These young creators put time and thought into making something meaningful for our beneficiaries, and you could feel the care in every piece. It was a simple gesture, but one that carried so much heart.
Gratitude to Our Partners & Sponsors
This afternoon would not have been possible without the generosity of our partners and sponsors who contributed items for the goodie bags and lucky draw. Their support didn’t just fill bags and prize tables but it filled the event with excitement, smiles, and moments families will remember long after the day ends. Your belief in our mission gives our families strength. Thank you for standing with us.
To Every Volunteer — You Made This Day Possible Behind every activity, every smooth transition, every happy moment, there were volunteers quietly working, guiding, supporting, and giving. Our parent and sibling volunteers, our beneficiary volunteers, and the youth volunteers — every single one played a part in creating this afternoon’s magic.
Showing up is never small. Today, you showed what compassion in action really looks like.
As the party wrapped up, one thing was clear: this wasn’t just an event. It was a reminder that when community comes together — across families, students, partners, volunteers, and sponsors — something powerful happens. Hope becomes tangible. Support becomes visible. And for our beneficiaries and caregivers, that means everything.
It was an afternoon filled with laughter, tears, courage, and connection, the kind that stays with you.
And if you were in the room, you’d understand: This is what rare strength looks like when shared.
